Salford City Reds Vice Captain, Robbie Paul will make his debut for the club this evening (Friday), when the Reds take on Bramley Buffaloes in the first knock out round of the Northern Rail Cup at the Willows.Further to being declared fit by his surgeon and club medical staff, Robbie has been back in full time training for the past few weeks and a further check up yesterday confirmed that he was back to match fitness and would be in the starting thirteen for this evening’s game, forming a half back combination with Richie Myler whilst Stefan Ratchford starts on the bench.
Salford City Reds, Head Coach, Shaun McRae commented:
“I’m delighted that Robbie has got through what has been a really difficult time and will be making his debut for the club this evening.
“He is an integral part of the team and has been a terrific off field representative for the club during his rehab, but I am keen to see him back transfer all those skills back on the rugby field.”
Further to a clash of heads with Lee Jewitt at the Batley Game last weekend, Jordan Turner has been declared fit to play after passing a cog sport assessment earlier this week, and with Jewitt, Stapleton and Leuluai all out with niggling injuries, Adam Sidlow will step up for his first outing since the pre season friendly against Warrington earlier this year.

Robbie Paul will exhibit his extraordinary wares vs bramley and then vs Widnes. The big question is “how will we do vs TRINITY?” tHEN we should know just how much more it will take to compete solidly in the Super League. The Reds have a good blend of youth and experience, right now but is more needed?Jim Shelton
I thought Robbie Paul did really well tonight against a spirited Bramley outfit.
I for one did not expect him play the full game, but in saying that in order for coach MaCrae to select him for first team selection against Widnes Vikings next week I suppose Robbie needed to be tested fully.
Welcome to Salford City Reds Mr Paul your debut tonight was well worth the wait…..
BRING ON THE VIKINGS
When does the draw for the Northern Rail Cup quarter-finals take place ?
Here’s to another home draw….
I think the draw is on Thursday evening on Sky before the NL1 game this week. Will check and confirm that on Monday though for you…
what a joke what has mr ratchford done to deserve that mr paul not played for 2 months but put straight into 1 st team what a way to knock a kids confidence we dont need overaged players taking kids spots these kids are our future we may as well go and watch wigan if we wish to watch overpayed and overaged ausies and kiwis
Why don’t the Reds “honour’ an ex-player every time they play at home this season ? He could be introduced to the crowd and perhaps say a few words . His name should appear in the programme prior to the game. It could also be released to the media a fe days before the match. Just another way of enhancing the people’s interest. Jim Shelton
